FC Barcelona target Fulham star

Spanish side FC Barcelona are planning on making a surprise bid for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov in January in order to add some experience to the squad.

It is thought that manager, Gerardo Martino is intrigued by the striker’s ability and technique and sees the Bulgarian as a suitable addition to help the club during Lionel Messi’s injury.

Reports in Spain have broken out today revealing that the Catalan club are wanting some experienced back-up and are hoping that they can strike a deal without spending too much money.

Although Martino already has Neymar and Alexis Sanchez at his disposal, it is believed that he wants a veteran player for a back-up plan.

More worrying for Fulham is that Berbatov’s contract expires this Summer and with hearing that Barca are interested, the 32-year-old may take that opportunity as one last chance to shine on the big stage.

All that is a stumbling block for the Spanish side is the striker’s wage demands, but if they feel they can work out a deal, they are plotting on making a bid in January once the transfer window re-opens.
