Felipe Anderson Receives Praise From Pellegrini

West Ham United manager, Manuel Pellegrini quite rightfully showered praise onto Felipe Anderson after a 1-2 away victory against Southampton.

The Brazilian scored a brace in the second half to win his side all three points and push into the top ten of the Premier League. Anderson increased his tally to 8 for the season along with 3 assists in 21 games.

The 25-year-old signed for West Ham last summer on a record transfer of €38m. He immediately added attacking and playmaking quality from the left wing. Anderson has taken a bit of time but it seems like he is finally starting to hit his stride at the London Stadium.

Speaking of the ex-Lazio man’s performance, Pellegrini said, “It’s not easy for a midfielder to score eight goals in the first half of the season. And I’m sure he will continue improving in the second half of the season.”

The manager further added, “I said before this game that we had to gain all three points because we had lost at home to Watford. So I’m happy because we won and the team played well – that we got both together. This was a good win today, playing away against a team that had won its last two games.”

With the treasure chest that Pellegrini was offered in transfer dealings last summer, it is expected for the Irons to finish higher up in the table but the Chilean boss is reluctant to set an exact spot. He said, “Well it depends if we continue playing this way. That we could finish the first half of the season with 27 points after our start, that’s very good for us. But now we need to improve and to have that ambitious, winning mentality. Now we start the second half and we’ll see where we can go.”
