Jose Mourinho has dropped a hint that both players could be staying at United
Jose Mourinho has suggested that Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata could be set to stay at Old Trafford this summer.
Both men have been linked with moves away from Man United but the Special One has spoken out about the pair after they starred in the club’s victory over Galatasaray in a pre-season friendly.
Mata is an Everton target
He said: “f they weren’t in my plans, I wouldn’t give them one single minute. The squad is very competitive.
“The other day I was telling them that we have 38 matches in the Premier League, we have the possibility of 15 matches in the Europa League, as well as the domestic cups.
“They are going to play 60 matches, so 60 matches can’t be done with 11 players.”
Fellani has been a target for Sunderland, who are now managed by the Belgian’s former manager David Moyes. As for Mata, he’s been linked with a switch to Everton and it seemed likely that he could depart when Mourinho became manager.
However, it looks like he may decide to keep faith in the two players and keep them at Old Trafford.
