Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that striker Fernando Torres will remain at the club despite numerous reports linking him with a Summer departure.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move it Italian side Inter Milan and also a return to his former-club Atletico Madrid, but after the side’s final game of the season away at Cardiff City, Mourinho confirmed that the forward to will stay at Stamford Bridge for next season.
The hit-and-miss striker scored the winning for The Blues yesterday during a 2-1 victory against already-relegated Cardiff, and despite Mourinho slaughtering his strikers all season claiming they don’t have a killer instinct, he has revealed that Torres will remain at the club.
‘Yes he’s in my plans [for next season]. He’s a good player,’ said the Blues boss.
‘He’s not the kind of guy who will score goal after goal but the way he works and moves he contributes to the team. He’s a player I like.’
Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Diego Costa from Atletico, and it’s believed that a deal will take place for the Spaniard, but it looks like he could be a team-mate of Torres, rather than a replacement.
