Chelsea have been given the satisfactory news they needed as it is understood that Filipe Luis has rejected the chance to sign a new contract at Atletico Madrid in order to push through a move to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho is keen to add Luis to his strong squad after releasing Ashley Cole at the end of last season, and it is becoming increasingly likely that Mouurinho will do so.

Reports in Spain suggest that the defender is unhappy with his current wage at the Spanish side and wants to move to Chelsea to improve his chances of breaking into the Brazil national side.

Atletico decided to hold talks with Luis, but the player rejecting the chance indicating that he wants to move as soon as possible. Atletico have demaned that Chelsea pay ÂŁ19m for their left-back.

However, Chelsea have failed to meet their demand and Atletico have already signed Luis’ replacement – Brazilian Guilherme Siqueira.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has spent the summer ignoring Atletico’s requests to talk and while the Spanish club are believed to be furious at his behaviour they will not lower their ÂŁ19m valuation.
