Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, made his long awaited return to football today during Arsenal’s U21 defeat to West Bromich Albion.

The English midfielder has been out of action since picking up an injury in pre-season back in 2011. Constant knee and ankle problems has kept Wilshere out for longer than Arsenal had expected.

Along with the 20-year-old, was another midfielder recovering from a long-term inury as well and that was Emmanuel Frimpong. Both players played over an hour for the U21s and both got through the game without taking any more knocks.

Wilshere, who is Arsenal’s new number 10 after Robin Van Persie leaving, showed some great touches during the game and played some lovely passes as it looks like he is getting back to his old self.

The Arsenal website reported: ‘Jack Wilshere has been lively and showing no ill effects from his injury problems at all encouragingly.’

Jack returned to first team training late September, so he is expected to be away from first team action for another fortnight.
