Financial Fair Play ignites spark in old rivalry

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger showed his disagreement towards Jose Mourinho’s comments on Finacial Fair Play rulings in a recent interview.

The Chelsea boss and his team are in the Premier League title race with rivals Manchester City. He suggested that City should have been docked points rather than their ÂŁ50 million fine for breaching FFP regulations.

When asked if he agreed with Mourinho’s comments, Wenger said: “I think we have a good sense of humour here.”

Both Mourinho and Wenger have not been the best of friends in recent years, adding to an already intense London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, the Gunners’ gaffer did say that UEFA needed to tie up some loose ends with Financial Fair Play rules.

He said: “It is not clear to people what Financial Fair Play means, the rules are very complicated.”

He also added: “We are a popular sport, so you want to clear and simple rules for everybody to understand.”
