Want-away Arsenal star is being targetted by his former club
Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is being tempted back to Southampton by former teammate Jose Fonte.
The 22-year-old is considering a move away from the Emirates this summer, having started just nine times for the Gunners this campaign, making 13 appearances as a substitute.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has enjoyed a good relationship with Arsenal fans, since joining the club for £15 million in August 2011, so therefore does not want to join another London side, out of respect for his club.
Both Chelsea and West Ham are reportedly interested in the Southampton academy graduate, while Fonte has reportedly stepped in to try to tempt him back to the south coast.
The Portugal international also reportedly tried to convince The Ox to join the club back in January.
Arsenal dilemma
Oxlade-Chamberlain is facing a dilemma about his future – whether he commits to Arsenal or seeks a new challenge elsewhere – with two years left on his contract.
He is currently battling back with a knee injury, and is in a race to be fit before the end of the season for Arsenal, and in time to be selected for England’s Euros squad this summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has won two FA Cups and the Community Shield during his time with the Gunners.
