Former Scottish footballer Andy Gray has said that the Liverpool fans should not get too excited about striker Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge came on as a substitute in their match against West Ham and scored Liverpool’s 4th and final goal of the match. Gray stated that the 28-year old has led many down on several and expectations shouldn’t be very high from him.

Andy Gray said, “No-one doubts the ability the young lad’s got. I have doubted his desire to put himself out there on the football pitch time and time again. It’s a great start for him but I’m not going to go overboard about Daniel Sturridge because too many times he’s let too many people down.

Let’s wait and see. For Liverpool’s sake I hope he is the new Sturridge. I hope that he has learned, and I hope that he does want to play, the latter part of his career, time and time again.”

Former Scotland captain Graeme Souness praised Liverpool’s attack, stating, “They were fabulous. It’s what I expected. They just blew West Ham away, too much quality, too much energy, the mischief they cause in the final third. They were just far too good for West Ham. West Ham got caught in a revolving door and couldn’t get out of it.”

The Reds will next play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday.
