Former Gunner Martin Keown feels that the Arsenal players are not giving any response to coach Unai Emery’s methods. Arsenal endured their second successive Premier League defeat against Chelsea, losing 3-2. This was the first time in 26 years that The Gunners lost their first two Premier League games.

Keown said, “It’s about giving the message to the players and them reacting. In these results he has not been able to do that. They are not taking on board the messages he is giving them. It’s going to be a difficult week for him. I expect them to beat West Ham next week but they need to improve.

How many games did Arsene Wenger manage? It’s 1,000-plus games and it’s a philosophy that you cannot change overnight. I find it disappointing they haven’t improved further. They don’t look right and need to radically change the system and look.”

Despite the defeat against Chelsea, Emery said that he isn’t concerned too much. “I’m calm. We need to give that calm to the players and continue working. I know we need to improve things. It’s clear we are a big difference for them. But today the team competed well and had chances.”

Arsenal next play West Ham at home on Saturday.
