France vs Albania Match Preview

France vs Albania Match Preview; the hosts will be hoping to secure another three points. France take on Albania tonight knowing that if they win, their place in the last sixteen could be pretty much secured.

France managed to claim a win over Romania in their opening game thanks to a stunning Dimitri Payet strike and they’ll be hoping to grab another three points tonight.

Albania though won’t make it easy – despite losing to Switzerland and losing their captain thanks to a red card, they put up quite a fight and were ultimately unlucky not to come away with a point.

They’ll be out to try and cause an upset tonight and if they play the way they did against Switzerland, they could perhaps spring a surprise against the host nation.

France’s Euros History

France have won the Euros three times so far and they’ll be hoping to add a fourth this year. They previously won the tournament when it was last held in France and they also won the World Cup on home soil too and they’ll be hoping that winning run at home continues.

Albania’s Euros History

The national side has never been involved in a major finals before this one, so it is brand new territory for the Albanians. They seem to have taken to it quite well so far though and they’ve gradually improved over the years and especially under boss Gianni De Biasi.

France vs Albania Match Preview: Key Players

France’s Key Player – Dimitri Payet

The West Ham man was sensational in France’s opening game at the Euros and if he carries that form into the game tonight, then France should be able to storm to victory.

Capable of not only assisting teammates with killer passes but also of scoring tremendous goals himself, Payet is also a massive threat from set-pieces – his free-kicks are deadly.

If he continues to keep playing so well, he’ll soon establish himself as one of the best players in Europe. Read more about the key players in France’s Euro 2016 squad.

Albania’s Key Player – Taulant Xhaka

The brother of new Arsenal signing Granit, Taulant has become one of Albania’s most vital players. Like his brother, he plays in the centre of the field and works tirelessly throughout games for his national side and club side.

Usually playing in the holding role, he is a solid player and can not only help start attacks with his superb passing range but is also fantastic defensively. Albania were rather good defensively in qualifying and Xhaka – with his tackling and workrate – is one of the main reasons why. Read more about the key players in Albania’s Euro 2016 squad.
