Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has praised team-mate Juan Mata and believes he is showing the right character and attitude after being dropped by Jose Mourinho.
The Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order at the club since Mourinho returned and has now been told by the Portuguese-man to change his tactics and adapt his game.
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge back in 2011, Mata has been superb for The Blues and has turned into a real fan favourite, but has only been able to make impacts from the bench this season.
He came on against Tottenham Hotspur and set up the equaliser for the visitors and after the game, Lampard was full of praise for the Spaniard.
“He played well, linked the play, put in the ball for the goal,” said team-mate Lampard.
“He has been a vital player ever since he came to the cub.
“His attitude has been first class. Every player understands there is a lot of competition, especially in midfield.
“If you are not playing, and we have all been there, you have to stay and train well, keep the right attitude. Juan has done that.”
