Frank Lampard: ‘It’s a tough title to win’

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes the club are currently going through a transaction under Jose Mourinho and the Englishman believes they will only get better with time, however, he also understands how tough it will be to win the Premier League this season.

The Blues are currently second in the league after an impressive start to Mourinho’s second stint at Stamford Bridge, but they are five points behind league leaders Arsenal after the 10-games.

With that in mind, Lampard knows how tough it is going to be to win the title this year, but he believes Chelsea are the ones to watch as they continue to adapt under the new manager.

‘Of course people need to realise it’s a different scenario. If you can’t see that then you can’t really see straight.

‘It is completely different from when Jose was here before. We had a very strong group that was ready to win a league. It was the perfect storm that came together for us.’

‘This year we know the competition out there, the money spent at other clubs, the quality already at other clubs. In the last two years we have finished fifth and third in the league which is not what we are used to… so everyone understands it is different now and think ‘let’s see what we can get.’

‘The days of a team going almost unbeaten through the league season aren’t going to happen anymore because the competition is too strong.
