Garay close to Manchester United switch

With Manchester United being linked to so many players, there is one rumour that has not gone away: Ezequiel Garay making the move to Old Trafford.

Garay, who has one year left on his contract, is believed to be ready to push through a move to the Manchester club. Manchester United are now favourites for his signature and seem set to fend off any interest held by city rivals Manchester City, and Zenit St Petersburg.

With Vidic set to leave United to join Inter Milan at the end of the season, David Moyes will certainly look to bolster his defence, possibly with the acquisition of the 6ft 2in Argentinian.

It is believed that Garay has a buy-out clause of ÂŁ17million, but David Moyes will certainly look to get him for a lot less as the player’s contract runs out next summer.

The defender spent 3 years at Real Madrid before making the move to Benfica in 2011. Manchester United have been keeping a close eye on the defender for a while now but Benfica have managed to keep a hold of one of their prized assets until now but the Argentinian looks set to leave this summer.

His agent recently had this to say: “In the summer he will be entering the final year of his contract with Benfica, so logically there will be news.

“But at this moment, I insist, Garay is only thinking about Benfica.”

Moyes will be desperate to add some quality to his team this summer because of how poorly they have performed this season. If they were to land Garay then it would be a major boost for Manchester United because the Centre-Back possesses a huge amount of talent.
