The player is keen to work under new coach Julen Lopetegui

Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham for a then world record transfer fee of €100.8 million, signing a six year contract in the summer of 2013. He has enjoyed a successful period with the club, winning four Champions League and one La Liga title.

The 28 year old has been an integral part for the La Liga giants but struggled to be a regular with injury problems. He has often been sidelined for a long period of time due to his injury problems.

The Wales international has endured another testing campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, with injuries and tactical tinkering limiting his impact. Since his return from injury he has struggled for regular game time as Zinedine Zidane preferring Isco and Asensio ahead of him.

Though the winger proved his worth when he came on as a substitute in the Champions League final against Liverpool last month. The score was 1-1 and he scored two goals in quick succession, including a brilliant bicycle goal, to turn the match in their favor.

He claimed that he was disappointed for not being selected in the starting line up and hinted he could leave the club in the summer.

“Obviously I was very disappointed not to start the game, I felt I deserved it but the manager makes the decisions,” Bale told.

“The best I have been doing is to come on and make an impact, I certainly did.

“I need to be playing week in, week out and that has not happened this season.

“I had an injury five, six weeks in but I’ve been fit ever since.

“I have to sit down with my agent in the summer and discuss it.” Bale’s majestic contribution underlined the quality he can bring to a team willing to pay Madrid’s asking price.

This led to speculations that Bale is frustrated with lack of game time and could leave the club this summer for more first team football. Manchester United have been tipped to sign the former Tottenham star.

Gareth Bale is happy at Real Madrid and keen to work under new head coach Julen Lopetegui rather than seek a move back to the Premier League, a source has told ESPN FC. He is ready to grasp the opportunity of proving himself to Lopetegui, who was unveiled by Madrid on Thursday.

He is under contract at the club until the end of the 2021-22 season, having signed a six-year deal in October 2016.
