Welsh forward looking for Premier League return
Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly set to battle each other this summer to sign Gareth Bale.
Bale, once of Spurs, transferred to the Bernabeu in 2013 for a world-record £85million fee, but has had a mixed bag when it comes to success in the Spanish capital.
Despite winning several honors, including the Champions League, Bale has had his fair share of injury problems that have kept him on the sidelines on and off over the nearly 3 years he’s been at the club.
He’s been in stunning form this season however, bagging 15 goals in 19 games, overtaking Gary Linker as the highest scoring Brit in Spanish football history.
And Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims that Bale has now set his sights on a sensational transfer to either Manchester United or Manchester City with Zidane lining up a bid for Chelsea exile Eden Hazard.
It’s thought that Madrid bosses are keen to keep him at the club, with a contract that would keep him at the Bernabeu until 2021 being constructed.
But the 26-year-old’s representatives are believed to be working on a deal which would see Bale link up with either Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Mourinho looks to be the man to replace Louis van Gaal at United should the Dutchman be sacked, while Guadiola has already been confirmed to be taking over at Man City. Both managers are set to go head-to-head in battle to make Bale their first major signings at their respective clubs.
