If reports are to be believed England manager Gareth Southgate is set to put pen to paper to a new four year deal. The English gaffer’s current contract is scheduled was expire after the Euro 2020.

The 48 year old has agreed to the terms and is also in line for a pay rise which could see him pocketing a cool £3m per year alongside performance bonuses. Southgate’s work with the Three Lions team has been applauded and the manager is now expected to lead the team in the next World Cup.

Southgate’s way of mixing youth talents with experience has reaped rich dividends as England reached the World Cup semifinals after 28 years. They might have lost the match but their positive display throughout the tournament has had a strong impact on the supporters.

Southgate initially was working on a temporary basis following the resignation of Sam Allardyce but a string of good results made the FA convinced about his capability and only after that he took over the charge.

The gaffer is yet to sign on the dotted line but the formality is expected to be completed before England’s next fixture in the UEFA Nations League against Croatia in October and we could expect an announcement in any time.
