Gary Cahill has insisted Chelsea’s winning mentality will be of much help in the club’s quest to add trophies to their cabinet.
Cahill’s future has been the subject of concern as Maurizio Sarri has mostly used Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz with the English international being demoted to the bench.
The defender will have the chance to make a move in January but with fixtures piling up in coming days Cahill still may have a role to play in the current system. Chelsea have made a fantastic start to the campaign having racked up 17 points out of a possible 21 in the first seven games.
Cahill said, “Every time you go into a competition you want to go as far as you possibly can to win.
“That’s always been the mindset since I’ve been at this club, since I first walked through the door.
“We won the Europa League in 2013 and it was an amazing night, an amazing feeling. So I take those memories and I think to myself that I want to do that again. We’ve been in the FA Cup final twice in two years now, so that’s another target for us as well, so there’s many targets for the season.
“I wouldn’t say any is our best route, we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out this season in the league and cup competitions. It’s very early days and the team’s in good form throughout all the competitions at this moment in time. Long may that continue and let’s see how far we can get in each and every one.”
