Barcelona defender and former Spain international Gerard Pique has made it clear that he is not returning to Old Trafford. Pique joined Manchester United’s youth team in 2004 and later, joined the senior team. However, he was never a regular for Manchester United. The Spaniard made  just 23 appearances for the Red Devils during his four-year stint before joining Barcelona in 2008. His career has been successful ever since.

When asked if he was considering returning to England, Pique said, “I don’t think so. I’m very happy here. It’s my home, with my family and friends, and playing for the club I always dreamed to play, and I hope to win more titles here.”

Earlier, Pique had said that he wanted Paul Pogba to come to Barcelona. And now, he has praised United’s rivals Liverpool and Manchester City. The 31-year old said, “I think Jurgen Klopp is doing a great job at Liverpool. The style of play is the opposite of (Pep) Guardiola. They like to counter-attack and have very quick players up front who score goals – like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane. It will be a challenge for City as Liverpool have a great team and I think it will be quite exciting. I think it’s difficult (to win the Premier League). City have a great team but I think they are slightly favourites.”

Pique has played every second of Barcelona’s La Liga campaign so far. The Blaugrana’s next league fixture is against newly-promoted Huesca. Huesca have made a pretty decent start to their maiden La Liga campaign so far. They beat Eibar and drew against Athletic Bilbao.
