Another day, another injury for the Madrid side.

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos limped out of the La Liga win over Granada and will not be available for Germany during the international break.

Toni Kroos has been ruled out of Germany’s upcoming games against Argentina and Estonia after he was injured in Real Madrid‘s game against Granada. The 29-year-old midfielder was replaced by Luka Modric in the first half of the 4-2 La Liga win at the Santiago Bernabeu that kept Madrid top of the table.

A club statement read: “After tests carried out today on the player Toni Kroos by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor in his left foot. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”

There was some confusion over the nature of his injury as Madrid released the statement on its English language website saying Kroos had hurt his left foot, while Germany said the problem was in his thigh. None of them said for how long he would be out, while Spanish media reports said he would be out of action for three weeks.

Kroos has started all 10 games in La Liga and the Champions League this season for Zinedine Zidane’s side, but the timescale would mean he was certain to miss Germany’s friendly with Argentina on Wednesday and their Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia on Sunday as well as league game at Real Mallorca on 19 October and the Champions League visit to Galatasaray on 22 October.

He will then face a battle to be back in time for the El Clasico against Real’s arch rivals Barcelona on 26 October at the Camp Nou.
