Legend thinks win in Basel could promote title challenge next season
Steven Gerrard things Liverpool could be heading into a ‘golden era’ under Jurgen Klopp, starting with a Europa League win in Basel tonight.
Liverpool have knocked out Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal to reach tonight’s final against Sevilla, proving themselves in the big occasions, particularly at Anfield.
And Gerrard feels victory would put down a marker as the club look to achieve greater things – including a possible Premier League title challenge – in the years ahead.
“There would be such a buzz around the club and the city, the lads and supporters will already be counting down the days until pre-season and you can guarantee all the talk next August will be about what is next for Jurgen Klopp’s side – a possible title bid.
“With the calibre of player they can attract, and Champions League qualification, there will be confidence Liverpool can challenge.”
