The former Liverpool captain would love to see Jordan Henderson lift the League Cup this weekend.
Steven Gerrard has revealed he would love to see Jordan Henderson lift the League Cup this weekend.
Liverpool play Man City in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday and the former Reds skipper is hoping to see his old side go on and win the the trophy.
Henderson made the move to Anfield in 2011 and struck up a partnership in midfield with Gerrard that worked quite nicely. When the 35-year old decided to make the move to LA Galaxy, it was Henderson who got the captain’s armband and Liverpool win this weekend, it would be Henderson who holds the trophy high above his head.
Henderson deserves the trophy
Gerrard had this to say about the midfielder and the Reds: “I have been in constant touch with my old team-mates and friends at Melwood through the season and I would love nothing more than to see Jordan Henderson lift that trophy.
“I cannot tell you how much Jordan would deserve it. Something that goes unappreciated in football – and you can’t put a price on – is those players who are absolutely dedicated to their profession.”
The game could go either way but we certainly know who Gerrard is rooting for.
