Al Arabi manager wants to lure Chelsea star to Qatar

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has hinted about making an ambitious summer move for defender John Terry.

The Blues skipper has been in-and-out of Jose Mourinho‘s side so far this season, and was hauled off at half-time during the club’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City earlier in the season.

Mourinho is planning for the future and is slowly keeping the veteran out of his starting XI, replacing him with 21-year-old Kurt Zouma, and this could be Terry‘s final year at Stamford Bridge.

Due to his age and the club’s policy, Terry is on a rolling 12-month contract at the Bridge, but with his first-team spot under jeopardy, the club may not offer him a new deal.

Both Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole left in recent years after seeing their rolling contract’s expire, and Terry could be the next one.

In recent reports, Zola has been linked with a shock move for Terry, and he’s admitted that he could try and lure the veteran to Al Arabi.

Zola Discusses Terry Reports

Zola said: “John Terry is a big player and Al Arabi is interested in big players so we will see what happens.

“There is a chance because it is one of the places where people want to go. The quality of life is very high here.

“There are clubs that pay well for the players to come so I wouldn’t be surprised if I see John Terry playing in this country maybe next year, maybe in two years I don’t know exactly when.

“The connection is easy me an John played together and have a very high opinion of each other so it comes quite natural to do that.

“I cannot say that it is impossible because you never know. I can tell you there are no contacts right now, thats for sure.

“We will see because right now we are just month and a half into the season and I am very happy that I am coaching so I didn’t even think about changing anybody.

“But in the future we will see. It could be one possibility.”
