Chelsea legend wants to bring club-captain to Middle East

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola wants to lure John Terry to the Middle East once he gets released by the Premier League club at the end of the season.

Terry announced following the win against MK Dons that he would not be renewing his deal at Stamford Bridge, despite wanting to stay at the club for at least one more year, and he’s now being linked with a move away from his boyhood club.

The defender admitted that the Chelsea board didn’t want to renew his deal, making him a free agent at the end of this season, and Zola wants to sneak in and offer him a contract.

Zola is currently the manager of Qatari club Al Arabi, and he wants to give Terry a final send-off before he retires from the professional game.

Zola Talks Terry

The Italian said: “When we talk about John Terry, we are talking about a big player, a big name and I believe a player of this stature is not of interest only for the team, but also for the whole league.

“The Qatari league is a league that wants to grow bigger so I believe there might be interest not only from Al-Arabi but from all the league.”

Terry has also been linked with mega-money moves to the Chinese Super League and the MLS.
