Olivier Giroud wants to continue to prove his critics wrong and has stated that he wants to bag 15 goals in his debut season at Arsenal.

The ex-Montpellier striker has come under a lot of pressure since the beginning of the season because of his lack of goals. A lot of people were saying that he was going to be a flop in the Premier League, much like, Marouane Chamakh, but Olivier Giroud has insisted that his confidence has never gone and he has set his sight on 15 goals in his debut season.

A brace at the weekend against Fulham has took his goal tally to six this season, more than Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney.

Giroud said: “I’m starting to quieten the doubters a bit. I’m feeling better and better in this team and I think you can see it.

“Last year, I scored 21 goals in the league (for Montpellier) and only one of them was with my head, but it’s true that I’m getting a lot more crosses here.

“I’m trying to build an understanding with my new team-mates and we are getting to know each other more and more.

“I’d be happy to get between 12 and 15 goals in the league this season.”

The 26-year old, then went on to talk about his own qualities.

“I am confident about my qualities.

“I never give up. When I didn’t score at the beginning of the season, I stayed confident, and I always work on my mind and my game. So it’s not a surprise for me.

“But I want to play a lot of good games and to win a lot of games with my new club. I have to score and to continue.”

Olivier Giroud will have his first taste of a North London Derby at the weekend, as Tottenham visit the Emirates.
