Right-back expects to leave Anfield this Summer

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has admitted he expects to leave the club this Summer.

The right-back is entering the final months of his contract at Anfield and he hasn’t received an extension offer as of yet from officials or the board and talks haven’t been proposed either.

The 30-year-old has been in and out of Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, making just 17 appearances, and he’s expected to be a free agent come July once his deal expires.

Eight Years at Anfield

Johnson has been at Liverpool since 2009 after completing a move from Portsmouth in a deal worth around £17.5million and he’s gone on to make nearly 200 Premier League appearances for The Reds.

However, with injury concerns and a loss of form, Johnson fell down the pecking order at Anfield and has now confirmed that he expects to leave this Summer.

Johnson Expects Move

He admitted: ‘Am I leaving Liverpool? I would have thought so – I haven’t got a contract.

‘We’ll have to wait and see.’

Potential Interest

According to reports, West Ham United are interested in the right-back, whilst a few clubs in Italy are thought to be keen.
