Johnson has been in the Reds’ back line since arriving from Portsmouth in 2009, helping the club to second in the Premier League last term.

But the England right-back is entering the final year of his contract, with no talks over a new deal.

And the former West Ham and Chelsea defender appears to be open to looking for a new club in the winter transfer window, should his contract situation remain the same.

The Anfield outfit reportedly offered him a 12-month extension at the end of last season, but Johnson is looking for a longer-term contract.

“There are no talks going on with the club at the moment,” Johnson said.

“There were minor talks towards the end of last season but nothing else.

“I’ve loved playing my football here from day one, but obviously I can only talk to the club about it when they want to speak to me.

“In January, I could (talk to other clubs), but I’ll worry about that when January comes.
