Liverpool defender, Glen Johnson, wants to leave the club in the Summer and join Ashley Cole at AS Roma, according to his agent.

The right-back is set to leave Anfield on a free transfer once his current deal expires in June, and with no talks with the club expected, the veteran could be set to end his time in England.

Johnson has admitted previously that the club are not interested in holding contract talks with him and he may be forced out of the club come the Summer, especially with Jon Flanagan returning from injury.

Jonathan Barnett, Johnson’s agent, has admitted that leaving to go abroad and in particular to go to Italy is a big possibility for the 30-year-old.

“He’s obviously looking for things at the moment,” his agent said. “He’s looking at many clubs.

“Glen is obviously looking for somewhere where he can turn around his career.

“That’s the most important thing for him. Where he can play nicely under a good club that’s challenging for things. That is where he wants to be.

“We’ve had no contact with Roma. Although, Roma would be a lovely place for him. Ashley Cole absolutely adores it there, I represent him as well.

“Ashley thinks very highly of Rome but we’ve had no contact with Roma regarding Glen.”
