Chelsea and Liverpool set to be disappointed in transfer battle?

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has dropped a massive hint that he’s ready to join Premier League side Arsenal – by joking about his shirt number in North London.

Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga, with the trio of Premier League clubs all interested, but when asked about his traditional shirt number, he jokingly said that he’d have to ask a current Arsenal player to move numbers.

The Monchengladbach midfielder wears no.34 on the back of his shirts and even has the number tattoed on his back, but when told about Francis Coquelin being that number at the Emirates Stadium, Xhaka stated the Frenchman would change.

Arsenal Hint

“That was my first professional number at Basel,” Xhaka said. “It’s even tattooed on my back. I would also like to wear it in the future.

“It was also here in Gladbach, with Amin Younes. And at Arsenal Coquelin has it. I’ve spoken with him, he would like to take another number!”

The 23-year-old is currently valued at around ÂŁ37million, and it’s believed Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all want to sign him.
