Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his side face a tough start to their Bundesliga campaign, according to Sky Sports.

The Bundesliga Champions host Wolfsburg this evening at the Allianz Arena, in a Friday night fixture which will kick-off the new season of one of Europe’s most entertaining Leagues.

And despite six of his current squad coming back as World Cup winners with Germany last month, Guardiola is aware of the threat that Wolfsburg will carry, with the Wolves finishing fifth in the Bundesliga last season.

“It’s not going to be easy for us,” Guardiola said at a press conference in Munich on Thursday.

“We’re immediately up against one of the best teams in the Bundesliga. It’s not an ideal situation for us, but that’s okay – we’re patient and I’m not complaining.”

Guardiola faces a real dilemma heading into the clash this evening, with the Baverian side facing a midfield crisis going into the new season, as they look to defend their League and Cup crown.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franck Ribery, Thiago, Javi Martinez and Rafinha are all out of the game injured, meanwhile Jerome Boateng is suspended.

Guardiola continued by stating that those injuries will make the game even tougher, with Bayern going for a third traight Bundesliga title.

“I’ve got no midfielders,” said Guardiola. “It’s not going to be an easy start for us. It’s going to be dangerous – very, very difficult.

“If we can be in a good position at the winter break, then we can have a good season.”
