Pep Guardiola was asked for an update for striker Sergio Aguero.

The Man City striker had injured himself during the 5-0 win against Burnley. He injured his left knee badly and has been out since 22 June 2020. He was immediately taken to Barcelona where his knee was treated by a specialist.

Pep Guardiola predicts that within two months Aguero should be ready to play.

“We knew that the injury was difficult,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“He is doing the job, in maybe one month or two months he will be ready.”

“He has to come back on the pitch and regain the physical condition,” added the boss.

“Sergio was out for a long time and Sergio is not a guy who regains the physical condition quick so I think in one month or two months he will be ready.

“He still did not make one training session with us.”

Other than Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez is also out after being tested positive for coronavirus.

Guardiola said: “Riyad came back three or four days ago. He is training but today (Friday) was the first day that Aymeric Laporte came back to us.

“I think Riyad will be available but Laporte not yet.”
