Idrissa Gueye says he didn’t want to push Everton exit.

The Senegalese player was closely linked with a move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain.

Everton midfield ace Idrissa Gueye has insisted that he did not want to push his exit from the club in the January transfer window. The Senegalese international was linked closely with the Ligue 1 giants PSG in the January transfer market. However, the midfielder decided against going on a strike to push a move out of Goodison Park and has continued his stint with the Toffees.

Speaking to the French news outlet L’Equipe, the Senegalese player said, “It is not my style or education. I have a lot of respect for Everton, I respect the shirt. It’s Everton who have allowed me to grow and show my strengths. Even in the middle of everything, I remained a professional. I played in games and didn’t go on strike. It is not my style and now even if I am a little disappointed, I will continue to give everything to Everton.”

Gueye is also hopeful that if PSG or any other European club comes with an offer to sign him in the future, the Merseyside club will not block the path. He said, “Nothing was said like that. I hope if PSG come back for me or another great European club, the club will allow me to take the step forward.”
