He is out-of-favour at his current club

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have held shock talks with Juventus about a possible move for Fernando Llorente.

The Spanish international is available for around ÂŁ8 million and despite being heavily linked with Manchester United and previously Liverpool, he could be heading to North London in a surprise move.

It is well known that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has money to spend this summer, after the debts of the Emirates Stadium were finally paid off.

It is also well known he is keen to make Real Madrid centre forward Karim Benzema a member of his talented squad, but the new Madrid boss Rafa Benitez insists the Frenchman is going nowhere.

This means that Wenger has now turned his attention to ex-Athletic Bilbao man Llorente, as he tries to materialise a move.

‘They have made an inquiry’

A source close to the Old Lady said: “It’s Arsenal who’ve been in contact, not United. They have made an inquiry but there is no bid yet.”

He also added: “But it is clear they are interested and it is also clear that Juventus are ready to listen.”

Llorente has fallen down to pecking order at Juve, after new signings Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala joined the likes of Alvaro Morata to strengthen the striking department at the Juventus Stadium, Turin.

The 30-year old is desperate to leave for regular first team football, especially with the 2016 European Championships just around the corner.
