Arsenal are prepared to offer Inter £29 million along with current striker, Olivier Giroud for the captains signature. The current Inter forward has made it clear on what he wants for this new season ahead, he’d like to leave the San Siro so he can play Champions League.

Arsenal are not alone in the race to get the Argentine’s signature. Napoli have also been linked with Icardi, whilst Inter are still trying to get him to stay through a new and improved contract. However, according to Italian press, the Italian giants are considering selling their player to Arsenal due to them being ready to offer Giroud in the player-plus-cash deal.

The North London club have been desperate for a concrete striker for a long while, and this summer has been nothing but disappointment within the window, especially after rejection from newly formed starlet, Jamie Vardy.

Why Giroud?

Icardi seems to be the clubs newest target after his 43 goals in the past two Serie A seasons, following a hip injury to their first choice target, Alexandre Lacazette. Arsenal must want guaranteed goals if they’re willing to sell their only recognised striker at the moment. With Welbeck out injured, it leaves the club with only Giroud, and with his previous season being below average, Wenger wants his tea, to have a definite threat in front of goal. New Inter manager, Frank De Boer’s first task in the job will be to tie down his club captain. This will be difficult as it has been rumoured that Icardi’s wife and agent met with Arsenal representatives earlier this month.
