Striker won’t be picked until interim sees improvement

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has told Radamel Falcao he won’t be picked until he sees an improvement in his fitness levels.

The Colombian international came out in the week saying he hasn’t been given a fair chance at Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho seeing him as third-choice striker behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy.

Despite the change of management, Hiddink has seemingly agreed with Mourinho and has now told Falcao to improve his fitness or continue to miss out on first-team football.

Falcao hasn’t featured since October due to a calf injury, and Hiddink has told him if he wants to feature more, he’s going to have to improve his fitness.

Falcao Told to Improve

“He [Falcao] is training with us, but there is a difference of being fit and game fit,”Hiddink said.

“You need longer in training. We talked to him about the intensity of training.

“If you are fit to train, the next step is to be game fit.”

When asked if Falcao will find top form again, Hiddink added: “We have to see him for a bit longer.”
