Harry Kane has set his sights on how to replicate Lionel Messi’s goalscoring antics.

Kane and Messi will come face to face when Tottenham Hotspur host Barcelona in the Champions League. Messi has registered over 550 goals for his club while the English international has just surpassed the 160 mark.

Messi has already set the stage with a hat-trick against PSV Eindhoven in the last match and will be looking forward to carrying his form to the next game. Kane knows the importance of this match as any hiccups in this game would deliver a serious blow to their Champions League contentions.

The North London giants had hoped for a positive opening to their Champions League campaign but they were defeated by a superior Inter Milan as Mauricio Pochettino’s side couldn’t hold on to their lead.

Kane said, “He set the standard, he and Cristiano Ronaldo have gone above the normal standard when they are scoring 50 or 60 goals a season.

“As a striker I want to try and match that. He’s definitely set the standard for the rest of us and he still is.

“It motivates me to get even better and improve and hopefully one day score as many, if not more than he has.

“It’s a great test for us. As players, you want to play against best in world and Messi is certainly that, a fantastic player, and we will do our best to stop him.”
