Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane believes that the club does not need to make January signings unless they find the right player.
Speaking to ESPN FC, the Englishman said, “Sometimes if you can’t find the right player there’s no need to buy a player. That’s obviously the gaffer’s philosophy and that was his thinking [in the summer]. He believed in the squad he had and we’re doing alright so far.”
“We’ll see what happens in the January transfer window. If the gaffer wants to buy someone then I’m sure he will. If he doesn’t we’ll crack on and keep doing what we’re doing.
He further added, “[Signings are] up to the manager. If a new face comes in then we’ll welcome him and make sure he trains hard, and he’ll obviously try to get into the team. If we don’t then we’ve got a big enough squad that we can rotate — players have been coming in and doing well. We’ll be ready either way.”
Tottenham made history in the Premier League after making zero additions in the 2018 summer transfer window. They are currently in the second place of the points table and are clearly proving all of their doubters wrong.
Pochettino has worked his way around niggling injuries to keep his team in the title fight. Kane is entitled to feel confident of his team’s potential this season but further additions could certainly help.
Having depth on the bench and more options always prove to be crucial in a very long season. Liverpool are currently holding a strong 6-point lead at the very top of the league.
