Harry Kane has fired a warning to his teammates they must beat Manchester United to make a statement this season. Tottenham Hotspur will visit the Old Trafford on Monday in a crucial clash and they cannot afford any slip-ups.
The North Londoners have been one of the most talented Premier League sides in the last few seasons but when it comes to defeating top teams their record is pretty awful. Spurs have failed to get the better off any top six sides they have faced in the first three matches in the last few seasons.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have made a fantastic start but they know they need to defeat Jose Mourinho’s men to set up the pace for this new season. United are a tough nut to crack at their fortress and the onus will be on Kane to lead the charge.
The English international said, “Whether it’s early in the season or late in the season, these are the big games that you have to make a difference in. We’ve got to be up for it because I’m sure United will be up for it as well. We’ll have to wait and see who comes out on top.
“It’s important – the top six are so strong now that you have to get off to a good start.
“In recent years, we’ve picked up around Christmas, carried it on for the rest of the season but we’ve ended up finishing second and third.”
