Manchester United suffered a double fracture in his leg last night

PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno has issued an apology to Luke Shaw for the tackle that all-but ended the Englishman’s season.

After the game it was confirmed that Shaw had suffered a double fracture in his leg after a crunching tackle from Moreno which when unpunished by the match-day referee.

Moreno has insisted that there was no malice in his challenge and has apologised to the United star as he knows what it’s like to break a leg as he suffered one during the World Cup.

Moreno Apology

He said: “I feel very bad about it. I am so sorry. I know how it feels, I know how difficult it is to recover from such an injury.

“Was it a foul? I think not. It’s difficult to say what happened. I don’t really remember. I think I played the ball, but in this kind of situation I don’t care if it was a foul or not, I just feel really bad for him and his family.

“I don’t know how bad it is. I was in the same situation during the World Cup and it’s bad. Now I just hope he will be back as soon as possible. I am really sorry.”
