The legendary Gunners striker believes their long-standing record may come to an end

Thierry Henry has confessed that Tottenham may finish above Arsenal for the first time during Arsene Wenger’s reign as Gunners boss based on the clubs’ respective form.

Tottenham are second in the table, six points ahead of Arsenal who have played a game less – and based on the Gunners’ current form, they could well finish second to Spurs for the time since Wenger took over at the north London club.

Arsenal suffered a demoralising 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, while Tottenham were convincing in a 3-2 victory over Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

And with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and co. all going from strength to strength under Mauricio Pochettino, there are no signs of slowing, while Wenger is suffering a crisis with Arsenal.

“Their future looks bright. They have all their best players on long-term deals, which sends a good signal to potential signings. The new stadium is coming on. They play good football,” said Henry.

“To attract the best players, Spurs need to show they are winning things too.

“The FA Cup this season would be a good start, having drawn Millwall in the quarters.

“Spurs are solid, a tight-knit unit with good togetherness and cohesion. But I would say the strength in depth is not there yet. They need about four more quality players.

“If Harry Kane is not playing, they miss him badly. Heung-Min Son did well at the start of the season while Vincent Janssen has not quite been up to it.

“They are not far off. That’s what worries me — Tottenham are finally getting it right.”

Wenger is currently considering his future at the Emirates, with a new two-year deal on offer should he chose to accept. While Juventus boss Max Allegri is in line to take over should the Frenchman decide to step down as manager.
