Liverpool might have a huge boost in their race for supremacy for the Premier League title due to Manchester City’s Carabao Cup win.
The Citizens successfully defended their cup title as they got the better of Chelsea in the final but lost two of their finest players in Laporte and Fernandinho via injury.
Liverpool might have got an upper hand in the Premier League title race after their close competitors and defending champions Manchester City defended their Carabao Cup successfully against Chelsea at Wembley. The Reds went to the top spot after playing out a goalless draw against Manchester United in their last outing at Old Trafford and saw their major rivals lose two key players through injury.
While defender Aymeric Laporte was forced to leave the field at half time due to an injury, defensive midfielder Fernandinho also limped off the pitch in the second half. This could be a body blow to Manchester City’s hopes of holding onto the coveted title and big favour for Jurgen Klopp’s men in their pursuit of a first Premier League title.
Last time when Fernandinho was out of the side due to injury, the Citizens had to face a mini-crisis period and languished in Premier League race with defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
