In Sunday’s Pro Bowl Games, the players from the winning conference will each get $92,000. That is nearly the same amount that the players on the losing squad in Super Bowl LIX next week will get.
On February 9, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will play in Super Bowl LIX. Each member of the winning squad will receive $171,000.
Each member of the losing squad will get $96,000. The Super Bowl losers will earn more money than the Pro Bowl Game winners for the second consecutive season. That had not been the case.

According to the NFL’s current collective bargaining agreement with its players, Pro Bowl champions received $74,000 in 2020, $80,000 in 2021, and $84,000 in 2022. Super Bowl losers received $65,000 for the 2020 season’s championship game, $75,000 for 2021, and $82,000 for 2022.
However, the San Francisco 49ers players received $89,000 each after losing in the Super Bowl a year ago. Each of the Pro Bowl Games winners received $88,000. Although it seems that winning the Pro Bowl has historically been more profitable than losing in the Super Bowl, and it almost is this season, that is only true when two games are compared. On the route to the NFL title game, however, the players who made it to the Super Bowl have been collecting checks.
The Chiefs were the top seed in the AFC playoffs this season, and the Eagles were the second seed in the NFC playoffs. Philadelphia defeated the Green Bay Packers 22-10 on Wild Card Weekend, and each player won $54,500 because the Eagles were the NFC East champions. Although Kansas City won a first-round bye as the AFC’s top seed, each of its players did receive $49,500 for the Wild Card Weekend, which is the same amount a non-division winner would receive for the first round.
The Chiefs and Eagles received $77,000 for the conference championship games and $54,500 for each participant in the Divisional Round. Conference playoff champions and losers get the same salary, with the exception of wild-card qualifiers and teams with byes, which receive $5,000 less per player than first-round division winners.
Super Bowl LVIII offers a financial incentive to win, just like the Pro Bowl Games do. However, the $171,000 payout for winners and the $96,000 payout for losers deviate from the NFL’s custom of paying out twice as much to winners. On Sunday, the losers will receive $46,000.
If Philadelphia wins Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles’ playoff earnings will total $357,000 for each player and $282,000 if not. In both situations, the Chiefs would receive $5,000 less from each player’s postseason haul.
