Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted he has no emotional connection to the club.

The keeper has spent 3 outstanding seasons on-loan at Atletico Madrid, and is set to play in the Champions League final against city-rivals Real Madrid on Saturday in Lisbon. He has also helped Atletico be crowned Spanish champions this year in a season that went down to the wire.

He has already made it clear to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho that he will not be playing second-fiddle to Petr Cech should he return to Stamford Bridge this summer,

Now he has insisted: “The fans and the other players at Atletico don’t see me as a player out on loan.”

“At Chelsea I have no emotional connection. They signed me up in 2011, nine million euros. Since then I’ve gone to London only for the medical check.”

“Already last year Chelsea no longer wanted to loan. But I wanted to stay in Madrid. After this season, it all goes back over again, and it is probably even more difficult to make a decision.”
