Liverpool star rubbishes reports claiming contract was signed
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has rubbished reports claiming he has signed a new deal at Anfield.
Reports emerged yesterday that the Slovakian had agreed terms on a new deal with the Merseyside club, after initially rejecting their first offer, but he has confirmed today that those reports are false.
Skrtel is in the middle of contract negotiations with the club and despite reports emerging yesterday that the two have come to a mutual agreement, the centre-back says otherwise.
Skrtel Dismisses Reports
He said: “I have my own profile on Facebook. I use it for communication with my fans and I operate it through the agency Stars and Friends.
“I strongly disavow the profile on which the false information was published. I have not created the profile and I do not have a clue who the administrator is.”
First Offer Rejected
Skrtel was furious with Liverpool officials after originally being offered a pay-as-you-play deal, an offer he labelled as ‘unacceptable’, and he has now revealed that he is yet to sign a new deal.
The 30-year-old has just one year left on his current deal at Anfield, and is wanted by Serie A side Inter Milan.
The defender has been at Liverpool since 2008 and has gone on to make 293 appearances, scoring 17 goals.
