Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has admitted that his error against West Bromwich Albion yesterday was a ‘crazy moment’, but his boss, Brendan Rodgers, refuses to blame him for the dropped points.

The Reds held a comfortable 1-0 lead thanks to a Daniel Sturridge goal, but after Kolo Toure picked up the ball on the edge of his own area, he was then left stunned when he saw his cross-field pass intercepted by Victor Anichebe, who then smashed home past Simon Mignolet to give The Baggies a point at The Hawthorns.

After the game, plenty of Liverpool fans made their voices heard over social networking sites and slaughtered the Ivorian for what he did, and the player himself knows how costly his pass was for the side.

Toure admitted: ‘I made a bad pass. I made a bad decision. I don’t know why I have passed it into the middle of the pitch, it was crazy.

‘I haven’t seen him. I should have just played it wide to Aly (Cissokho) but you make decisions sometimes and… it’s difficult because my pass just put the team in a difficult situation.

‘I’m disappointed. The manager knows I’m disappointed. We have missed an opportunity. We just didn’t need that kind of mistake.’

Despite his pass costing Liverpool all three points, after the game, Rodgers refused to blame his centre-back.

‘Kolo is devastated. It’s unfortunate. We made a mistake and were punished. It was a good finish by Anichebe but it’s cost us two points.’
