Porto and Colombia World Cup star Jackson Martinez has admitted that he would jump at the chance to sign for Arsenal.
The fearsome striker is reportedly at the top of Arsene Wenger’s wishlist, and it is believed that the Frenchman is willing to meet Jackson’s £35million buyout clause.
The 27-year-old has fired home 60 goals in 91 games for his current club, and is widely regarded as one of the most clinical finishers in the business.
Arsenal are admittedly on the search for a striker, with Olivier Giroud struggling at times last season as he carried his side’s title challenge single-handedly, and Jackson fits the criteria that Wenger is looking for.
The Gunners have seen Nicklas Bendtner depart on a free transfer, and after conceding defeat in the battle for Real Sociedad’s Carlos Vela, they will attempt to prise Jackson away from Portugal after the striker revealed that he was a big fan of the Emirates side.
He said: “I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements.
“My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals.
“As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes.”
