Striker returns to former club after failed spell in England

Spanish side Celta Vigo have confirmed the re-signing of striker Iago Aspas after he agreed to leave Premier League side Liverpool.

The 27-year-old left the La Liga side in order to join The Reds back in 2013, but two years and 14 Premier League appearances later, the Spaniard has agreed to return.

Liverpool Struggles

Liverpool paid around ÂŁ8million two years ago, but after failing to break into Brendan Rodgers‘ first-team, he was sent out on loan back to Spain with Sevilla.

After making just 14 appearances in two seasons, Aspas has finally agreed to leave the club, after agreeing personal terms with his old-club.

The striker initially signed a provisional one-year deal, but the La Liga side have now confirmed he’s put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Club Reveal Deal

Aspas passed a medical in Spain last night and the club tweeted: “One of the most exciting arrivals of recent seasons.”

During his first stint at Celta Vigo, Aspas made 136 appearances, scoring 46 goals during the five years he was there.
