Former-Barcelona winger set to join Potters
Ibrahim Afellay is currently having a medical at Premier League side, Stoke City, after leaving FC Barcelona over the summer.
The 29-year-old winger has been shipped out on loan by the La Liga champions for the past two seasons, playing for Bundesliga side Schalke and Greek side Olympiacos.
However, after his contract expired at the Nou Camp, he was told he would be released and he is now a free agent.
Shaqiri Missed/Afellay Signed
After missing out on Xherdan Shaqiri, Stoke have turned their attentions elsewhere and are now offering Afellay a chance to resurrect his career in the Premier League alongside his former-teammate Bojan.
Mark Hughes‘ side had a deal agreed with Inter Milan for Shaqiri, but the Swiss international rejected the chance to join the English team.
However, Afellay is more than happy to join the club and is currently undergoing a medical in Stoke, according to Sky Sports News.
Stoke are hopeful a deal can be wrapped up and finalised by tonight.
