Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has admitted that he would be interested in a move abroad, despite insisting that he wants to stay with the Spanish giants.

In a statement that is sure to put Premier League clubs on alert, Casillas said:

‘I’ve thought about leaving Spain. I don’t want to rub anyone the wrong way or create a bad air, because you always want Madrid to win.

‘But then you think: “I have to compete and fight.” These past two years have made me fight and become stronger. I haven’t made any indication I want to leave.

‘I never had a concrete offer. My idea was, and still is, to finish my career here.’

On 19 October 2010, Casillas became the goalkeeper with most appearances of all time in the UEFA Champions League and in November 2011, he became the most capped player of all time for the Spanish national team. With over 150 caps for his national team, Casillas is the third captain in football history to lift the World Cup trophy, the Champions League trophy and the European Championship, along with Franz Beckenbauer and Didier Deschamps. And first captain in the history to lift UEFA Super Cup along with aforementioned trophies.
