Manchester United winger, Ashley Young, is set to be out of action for two to three weeks because of a bruised cartilage on his knee.

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he won’t rush Young back into first team action, who hasn’t featured for United since August.

Ferguson said: “We’re taking our time. You can easily play with it and train but we’re not going down that road, we want to make sure he’s okay.”

On a more positive note, Manchester United, expect Wayne Rooney to be ready to play next week after he suffered a deep dash on his leg against Fulham a couple of weeks ago.

“He’s not far away. I think he may be fine for next week,” said Ferguson.

“He’s doing a lot of great training and has been working hard. It’s just a matter of getting him into the full football training side of things, which he has been part of.”

Another positive for the Red Devils is the return of Darren Fletcher and they expect to start him in the Capital One Cup when they face Newcastle.
